Building Inspection

Building inspection organisations check materials, particularly concrete, against the required standards through authorised laboratories. Responsible technical specialists supervise construction and verify that the approved designs are followed. Insulation checks support comfortable, energy-efficient buildings. Sound engineering design and inspection under the applicable specifications are central to structural safety. Contractors, the relevant authority, inspection organisations and the Ministry's Building Inspection Commission form the inspection network. Building inspection reduces risk; it does not eliminate every construction or disaster risk.
